A Year In A Bottle
"Paul Dolan Pinot Noir 2007... This is far and away my favorite wine of the year because I associate it with so many amazing 2011 memories. It was my choice of wine for toasting my girls before Giants' games in San Francisco on playgrounds, my go-to wine after any trying day of the office, and my favorite bottle to gift. Did I mention it's great to geek out on when you're talking about the amazing production of Mendocino and the philosophy behind biodynamic winemaking? It's delicious, affordable and a wine that's meant to be shared and opened often.

A Party Friendly White
"At a recent family holiday gathering for which my brother cooked, I played my designated role—the bringer of wine, lots of it. I usually show up with a mixed half-case, then pull additional bottles from my overflow stash in my brother’s cellar, to be sure there’s something to go with whatever is on the table...Everyone finds their favorites—this time around, my brother was impressed by the elegance of a Mendocino Zinfandel from Paul Dolan

Parducci & Paul Dolan Vineyards Inaugurate Wineries for Good
"
Just when you think you’ve seen it all, just when cynicism and indifference seems poised to win the day ...I am here to tell you a bit of good news. Quiet, subtle, but very good news.  Facebook announcements generally have all the luster and impact of lost pet fliers stapled to telephone poles. But two caught my eye the other day. First Parducci, then Paul Dolan Vineyards. The subject was microfinance and a San Francisco-based organization named KIVA." Full Article

2007 Paul Dolan Vineyards Deep Red
"
This deep, earthy red is made with 100% Biodynamic grapes, namely: Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache and Zinfandel.  Its aroma is earthy, with red fruit and spice notes.  In the mouth it’s similarly earthy and spicy, with ripe red fruit flavors.  A terrific wine with a smooth, silky texture and good structure. 91" Full Article

Q&A With Paul Dolan
"
There are a lot of impressive people involved in the California wine industry, but few are as respected and admired as Paul Dolan of Mendocino Wine Company. Paul is revered not only for his winemaking, but for his decades-long dedication to sustainable winegrowing and business practices. A fourth-generation winemaker..." Full Article

2009 Paul Dolan Vineyards Chardonnay
"Golden straw color. The nose is crisp and fresh, offering up bright green apple and sharp citrus. It surprises on the palate, showing ripe spiced apple, vanilla and butter, all with a creamy texture. The creamy finish lingers for 25 seconds. An excellent example of a lightly oaked, New World Chardonnay. An excellent food wine that would complement a chicken Alfredo or sautéed white fish." Full Article

"Recommended buy" - 2009 Paul Dolan Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc
"Whether or not you can ‘taste’ the difference of biodynamic and organic grapes is something of a controversy in the industry, although some producers swear by it, as Paul does. Regardless,  it’s the right thing to do as stewards of the land, our environment, and for future generations.  Indeed if a wine grower needs a selfish reason, most do admit the long term benefits in the health of a vineyard and soil profile compared to the results of years of chemical farming. This isn’t a fad or a marketing ploy, it’s part of sharing this planet with others." Full Article

Paul Dolan Offers a Surprisingly Lush Red
"Dolan’s 2007 cabernet is ridiculously lush, elegantly tannic, and layered with dark fruit, hints of nutmeg, even anise, all of it riding smoothly on a bed of light oak.  This is a $24 bottle of cabernet that can hold its own in the company of Bordeaux blends costing four times as much." Paul Dolan Vineyards Brings It With Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc!
"Both of these wines are delicious and impressive for different reasons. The chardonnay hits way above it's price point, comparing favorably to low-to-no oak wines at $30 a bottle. It's a structural and textural home run." Full Article

Wine Enthusiast, February 2011

92 Points & Editor's Choice - 2007 Paul Dolan Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
"A terrific Cabernet ... In fact, you could place it next to far more expensive Napa bottlings. It’s dry and elegantly tannic and complex, showing blackberry, currant, violet, herb and cedar flavors that bring to mind a fine Bordeaux.”

Wine Enthusiast, November 2010

91 Points & Editor's Choice - 2007 Paul Dolan Vineyards Zinfandel
"This is a lovely Zinfandel, soft and appealing. It has fine balance and is dry and rich in cherry, currant, Provençal herb, spice and tobacco flavors. Shows real complexity as it changes in the glass.”

Wine & Spirits, October 2010

91 Points & Best Buy - 2007 Paul Dolan Vineyards Pinot Noir
"This hits the delicate side of Pinot Noir in its scents of spring roses, of freshly turned earth and light hints of strawberries. The flavors are long, savory and bright. Why can’t there be more wines in this style? Especially when there’s duck confit salad on the menu.”

90 Points & Editor's Choice - 2008 Paul Dolan Vineyards Chardonnay
"A beautiful Chardonnay notable for its food-friendliness. Strikes a firm path toward dryness and minerality, with suggestions of citrus, peach and vanilla. The racy acidity is wonderful. Defines elegance in Chardonnay, at a good price.”

From vinegar to vines: The blessings of grapes
"I'm grateful to Paul Dolan, who has done more to advance the concept of biodynamic farming in the wine industry than anyone else, for making a pleasingly bright, creamy lemon- and melon-tinged wine that doesn't evaporate like a bland pinot grigio and doesn't overpower you with new-mown sod." 2007 Paul Dolan Vineyards Zinfandel
"Deep, rich, purplish red color.  Distinctive touches of ripe raspberries on the aroma, leading to a serious mouthful of wine.  It is certainly fruit driven, but fruit in balance with the firm back note of tannins.  Soft enough to drink now, I’d like to see a couple years of age on it to develop more complexity.  Grown in an organic and biodynamic certified vineyard.”  Full Article

Paul Dolan Vineyards - 2007 Pinot Noir
"There is a lot to like in this 2007 Mendocino Pinot Noir. First and foremost is the fact that this is a well ballanced wine. this Pinot is loaded with flavor and quite true to its varietal. There are layers of elegant complexity that make this a nice wine to savor and contemplate over a long meal. This is a serious Pinot Noir. For around $30 this wine over delivers on its price point." The Politics of Green Wine
